Karl Fleck

Karl Fleck (b. 1990, Sandusky, Ohio) is a painter based out of Deerfield, NH. His art is a byproduct of his midlife crisis. All kidding aside, he is a passionate art lover and, dare he may say, artist? He is enjoying the personal exploration, and meditation, that comes with painting and he wants to thank you for engaging with his work.

Karl’s artwork was featured in ‘Codex Insolitus‘ on view September 12-27, 2026.

“‘Codex Insolitus’ (Latin for “bizarre book”) is a collaborative project between Karl Fleck and Todd Pattison. We met in 2017 as co-workers at an arts non-profit. Karl works in audio preservation, and Todd is a book conservator. We have a deep respect for each others’ use of materials and creativity. About a year ago, Amy and Karl were working on ideas for a show and Karl reached out to Todd to see about working on a project together. This is the result.

The work itself melds organic shapes and textures with vivid colors and is related to the technical facets of the written word (in one way or another). You’ll notice letters, pages, scrolls, as well as references to historical forms (such as the Antiphonal – a large medieval-era book used for communal singing).

We encourage you to read the pieces as you would read a book. Each one has a story to tell.”

Karl’s artwork was featured in ‘Hi Neighbor!‘ on view August 8-30, 2026.

“Last year, I purchased a work by one of my favorite local potters, Al Jaeger. I told him that I would make a copy of it. He told me that it better be better than his. Better? Who’s to say.”

Karl’s artwork was featured in ‘Joy!,’ on view December 13-21, 2025.

“I like to think that viewing my work is the same as looking at clouds. They’re made in a way where the eye can shift from spot to spot and the imagination is free to judge.”

Karl’s artwork as featured in ‘Tout Le Monde’ on view August 9-31, 2025.

“Matt” is an exploration of form, material, weight, and balance.

“Ruth and Boaz” discusses a twist on a familiar Bible story, and is focused on exploitation and abuse of women by men in power.

Karl’s artwork was featured in ‘Presently‘ on view December 14-22, 2024.

“This piece is a non-objective exploration of geometric shapes, depth, and color.”

Karl’s artwork was featured ‘Wish List’ on view December 9-22, 2023.

“Untitled” is a stream of consciousness portrait that is an effort to explore lines, shapes, colors, and textures.”
