Silvia Dowdell

Silvia Dowdell (b. 1999) is a Massachusetts based artist working primarily in oil paint and various printmaking techniques. Through her work she explores the complex relationship between humans and the natural world. Her narratives use a way of storytelling that feels like a childlike performance, similar to domestic folklore. Her color world generates intense emotion. She seeks to pull the viewer out of their comfortable environment and into a space where she ask them to be more vulnerable.

Silvia’s work was featured in ‘Glad You Asked,’ on view March 11-26, 2023.

“This is the moment I carried a bird that was hit by a car to put it under a bush. A few minutes later it unfroze from its shock and flew away.”
